Off to the Races in 2023!
One way to really make some movement on reducing your mental load is automating things. Luckily, we’re living in a time where the internet exists. One thing that weighs heavily on me is the upkeep of my home and all the to-dos that come with it. Simple tasks like the regular maintenance of appliances can be easy to execute and tough to remember to do. In case you haven’t met my friend Amazon auto delivery, I’d like to introduce you. I recently signed up for these three items to automatically show up in a cadence which enables me to use them once a month. Then, I added a reminder to my calendar for the first of each month so I remember to use them that day. Looking forward to saying goodbye to this mental load item.
Task Stacking…
After recently reading Atomic Habits, I’m working toward small changes for big, long-term results. One of the tips in this book is stacking chores or to-dos. I’m starting with a goal during my work meetings to occasionally also move my arms with some weights. What I’ll lose in dignity in front of my team, I’ll gain in muscle strength in my arms. If I’m going to do this, I’m at least going to be using trendy-looking weights which can be adjusted easily for the weight I need.
Audible…
You may have laughed out loud when you just saw that I somehow had time to read a book. It’s a fair thought and the only way possible is because I’m a very dedicated Audible user. For me, listening to an audiobook while I’m cleaning the house has become (oddly) one of my favorite things to do (#thisis40). I absolutely love reading and combining it with other things I need to get done is key for time management.
Walmart Plus…
Speaking of time management, I’ve given up on trying to be a human who has time to go to the grocery store. Walmart+ has truly been a game changer. While I had never really shopped at Walmart before, their Walmart+ app and delivery options couldn’t be beat (along with their prices, I’m finding out). Don’t have dinner planned for tonight, or the groceries to go with it? I don’t think Walmart is planning your meals for you (yet?), but with this subscription you can jump on and have your food delivered to you within two hours. #GAMECHANGER
