The Mom Memo No. 5
Hello, 2023!

Hello, 2023!

Welcoming in 2023 with open arms and full hearts! I’m so excited about this community and its opportunities this year. At the top of the priority list is one of two reasons I started this group, to help reduce moms’ mental loads and support their enjoyment of the momming journey. It’s all too much, and a major focus for me is less time doing and thinking, to give me more time hanging out with my incredible kids (not biased at all). With that, I present to you a few things I’m initially utilizing to free up some brain space and time.

Label maker…

If this is your year to get organized, a label maker is a must-start. Having this on hand is key to any project’s success. If you’re stuck at where to start for getting your house organized, order this label maker, put labels on a few things that are already contained, and you’ll likely find yourself on a good journey to success!

Custom chore charts…

There is no reduction of mental load without a full team effort. Your family should be supporting the cause at all ages. A chore chart can help (slightly?) reduce the amount of times you need to say please make your bed. Expectations are clear and a good talking point about the roles everyone plays in helping the family and house function for success. I love these customizable charts.

Mister Car Wash membership…

There’s something for me about a clean car making it really feel like my entire life is put together. I have a Mister Car Wash membership and they are definitely losing money on me. I drive my car through the quick wash multiple times per week so the outside stays clean. I have them do the inside of the car at least once a week. My kids know keeping the car tidy helps all of us feel good. Their job is to take their things and put them in the house, and I’ll handle the cleaning of the inside/outside of the car with support from my BFF Mister Car Wash. You will not regret removing the multiple-times per-day heavy thinking about the messiness of your car.

Coffee subscription…

I can assure you the one thing that really throws the system off in this household is when we’re out of coffee. We may as well just not get out of bed. Therefore, I have a coffee subscription and the coffee comes to me, and I don’t have to worry about ever waking up to the trainwreck which is a day without immediate coffee. I recently started using Cometeer which comes as an individually frozen concentrate and absolutely love the taste.
