The Mom Memo No. 38: The Magic of the Movies

Hey Mama

Our littles are psyched for the upcoming release of Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie on September 29! For some, it will be their first movie in a theater. If you’re in a similar situation here are our quick tips to make the experience enjoyable:

  • Wiggle it out. Before the movie starts, help kids get their energy out by stretching their arms and legs.
  • Try a sensory-friendly experience. Softer sounds, brighter lighting, and other families make for a more relaxed movie-going experience.
  • Ask questions. What did they enjoy about the film? How did it make them feel and why? Asking questions expands a child’s curiosity, creativity, and independence.

Mom Tip: Looking for a tv show or movie but stuck scrolling through the endless options on each streaming service? Use the app JustWatch to get personalized recommendations based on the streaming services you subscribe to, and easily search where a movie or show is available to stream, rent or buy. This app is always a timesaver!
