3 Tips to Great Phone Photos

‘Tis the season of grads and parties and you probably want to hold onto every memory. If you’re anything like us, the next-day perfect photos of our kids we WISH we had taken look nothing like the under-exposed, slightly off-kilter, blurry pics we wind up with. Here are a couple of tips on taking pics you’ll want to keep in the cloud.

       1. Take (lots of) candid shots

Posed pics are great to make sure everyone’s adequately photographed, but sometimes you get more creepy forced smiles than you really want. Take some candid shots when no one knows you’re taking them. You’ll be surprised at the authentic moments you capture.

      2. Don’t say “cheese”

This tip supports tip number one; saying “cheese” just sort of forces one’s face into a grimace, areweright? Tell a joke or make a funny face to get kiddos to smile in a genuine way.

      3. Use natural light

Unless you’re a professional photographer who comes prepared with your own equipment, look for natural light to create the best lighting for your photos. If you’re inside, stand near a window, and when outside, stay close to pockets of sunlight that light up the faces of your little subjects.

Things We Love

YETI Rambler Jr. 12 oz Kids Bottle

Picnic time! Pat yourself on the back for dragging your kids outdoors to engage with something besides their tablets. This Yeti bottle is built for little hands and will head off thirst complaints. It has a no-sweat design to keep it from slipping through their sweaty palms on a summer day, and it’s dishwasher safe, which makes clean up, well, no sweat.

Find it on Amazon.

Porter Seal Tight Bowl

Whether you’re an egg salad family or a cut-up fruit family, this container will keep your picnic food fresh. The seal-tight lid means you won’t have to deal with drippy, sticky leaks that stain your tote and stink up your car. You’re welcome.
