A few of our favorite things…

A few of our favorite things…

Last week we enjoyed a lot of sweetness at our house! As we start to transition from winter (I hope!) to spring, here are a few of the items we’re loving for a multitude of reasons.

Diamond Eye Mask…

I’ve never been too into under-eye masks until I turned 40 last year AND literally both kids and our dog have decided no one likes to sleep through the night anymore. Enter these Diamond Eye Masks I threw in my cart one Saturday morning at Target. Cautiously optimistic turned into incredibly surprised by the results of these masks with real diamond and caffeine extracts. As one of my girlfriends described them after using them based on my recommendation: “I definitely felt like Bey.”

Kid-Safe Knife Set…

One of my goals this year is to teach our 6-year-old how to safely assist with meal prep each week, including chopping and dicing all the foods. I recently purchased this kid-safe knife set and am pleasantly surprised by how well she can hold/use them. I’m looking forward to her gaining some independence in the kitchen that will evolve over time AND having an in-house sous chef!

Creative Summer Camps…

No one prepared me for how fast-paced the summer camp registration timeline is nor how far in advance of summer it begins. (AmIRight?!) While some summer camps here in the Des Moines metro only offer a few options based on grade level, Kids Create in Polk City has a wide array of really fun and creative camps (not just for summer, but all year!). Our oldest is registered for a weeklong camp this summer that she’s already excited about based on her past experiences there! Check out their Facebook page (linked above) to explore the camp offerings, then create a free account on their website to register. MEMBER EXCLUSIVE: Kids Create is offering a 10% discount on any camp tuition with promo code MOMS at checkout. No limit on use and valid until March 30.

The Cutest Joggers…

I’ll be honest, I’ve never been a fan of joggers because they are either one of two things: too tight/rigid material, or too loose and casual. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect jogger for YEARS. These Athleta Trekkie North Jogger Pants check all of the boxes for me. Perfect length, perfect fit (I wore them all weekend and they didn’t stretch out weirdly at any point), and can be dressed up with cute booties and a sweater (I plan to wear this exact combo to work this week) or dressed down to your own comfy-casual style. Personally, I can’t wait to wear them with Birkenstocks once the weather warms up!

Best Lunch Box…

Our oldest daughter is a fairly picky eater, so I knew when she started kindergarten two years ago, school lunch would be something we’d have to ease into. A friend introduced me to the Bentgo lunch box, and after nearly two years of packing lunches in it, I will forever be a fan. As lunch boxes go, it’s a bit pricey. But, I keep two in rotation and wash them each night on the top rack of our dishwasher with zero issues ever. Now, to start integrating a few school lunches each week next school year so mama can back off this to-do a bit.

My Best Friend: The Shark Vacuum…

I recently researched a new vacuum for days. To the point that my husband highly encouraged me to “please, just buy something already.” HAHA! I wanted the flexibility and lightweight I’d experienced with my Dyson V8 cordless, but with much more power and no fear of poor battery life (ask me how I know), as well as something that could stand up to two really busy – and messy – kids and a dog who thinks he should go outside 47 times a day. Enter the Shark HZ3002 Stratos Ultralight Corded Stick Vacuum with DuoClean PowerFins HairPro, Self-Cleaning Brushroll, & Odor Neutralizer Technology. Honestly, I couldn’t be happier with this decision. I vacuumed our house four times in the past seven days because it’s so easy and the dirt pickup is amazing. Who knew being in your 40s would be so fun?!
